Message from the President
The WFNMB was established in 1970. We shall therefore in 2010 commemorate the 40th anniversary of this organisation. In addition, we shall host the 10th congress of the WFNMB, the first having been held in 1974. Many reasons to celebrate!! This tenth meeting of the WFNMB will be held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre. The venue is within walking distance of the sparkling Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, and within easy reach of the renowned winelands of the Western Cape. The WFNMB congress 2010 aims to provide you with up-to-date information in our field, as well as interaction with Nuclear Medicine experts from across the globe. You can present your own research work, and listen to presentations from colleagues from the developed and developing world. There will also be a strong focus on continuous professional development, especially tackling the role of Nuclear Medicine in diseases of the developing world. Our colleagues from industry will also join us, to inform us about new developments on the industry side, and to join hands with us in ensuring that the meeting can also be attended by our colleagues from the developing world. Come and join us. Your participation and interaction will contribute towards making this congress a truly memorable experience and will enhance our ability to further improve health care on our wonderful continent. Furthermore, make sure that you add a few extra days, so that you can also enjoy the beauty of our South Africa, with its animals, floral kingdoms and richness of culture. We look forward to welcoming you in Cape Town in September 2010!

Message From The Congress Chair
The WFNMB will host the 10th WFNMB congress in true South African style and hospitality. Although the organization of this event will be a national team effort, Cape Town will be the hosting city. During the congress your academic needs and expectations will be met by the exciting and comprehensive academic program, engaging both bread and butter nuclear medicine as well as state of the art developments.
The program promises to suite all interested in and practicing nuclear medicine both in the developed and developing countries, and all this in the shade of Table Mountain. What a pleasure! Apart from the academic enhancement there will be plenty opportunities to experience Cape Town and what it has to offer. During the planned social events you will have the opportunity to mingle with friends both old and new and enjoy the jewels of what Cape Town is renowned for, wine.
Situated on the southwestern tip of Africa, Cape Town is the second most populated city in South Africa having a population of approximately 3,5 million citizen. Being the capital city of the Western Cape this scenic paradise offers a bouquet of exploring adventure for all tastes. Offering a range of attractions, breathtaking sights and endless activities, it is a year-round holiday destination with friendly people, a mild climate and rich cultural heritage. Cape Town is famous for its harbor as well as its natural setting in the Cape floral kingdom, including such well-known landmarks as Table Mountain and Cape Point. Cape Town is one of the most popular South African destinations for touism.
Cape Town has a Mediterranean climate with well define seasons and September marking the start of summer. The Peninsula gets frequent strong winds from the south-east, known locally as the Cape Doctor, because it blows away pollution and cleans the air.
To ensure that your visit and stay in South Africa is optimal I would suggest that you add a couple of days to your trip. There are so many things to do and places to see, you will never have a dull moment, guaranteed! Wishing you well in preparing for your unforgettable trip to the 10th WFNMB congress.
